The Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K in Towson has a lot in common with other charity races: it attracts competitive runners who are also committed to raising donations that benefit a good cause. However, there are a lot of things about the Turkey Trot that make it totally unique. To start with, it takes place on Thanksgiving day, which means you’ll find lots of runners warming up alongside their extended families who are visiting from out of town for the holiday. You’ll also find nearly everyone in costume, as race organizers award prizes for the best costumes in several categories (individual, group, and pet).
Finally, all registered racers get a free, month-long membership to the YMCA after the race is over. You can use it to access the Y gym, attend a few wellness classes, or check out some of the after school programming for kids.
